Good news: I found other petitions for purebred dogs' genetic diversity
When I first learned about the genetic situation in Dobermans, I felt that few people were interested. This was especially true considering that despite posting my petition on Bluesky, X, Tumblr, Facebook, and Threads, the number of signatures was very low.
However, today I discovered these two petitions, which are about the genetic diversity of purebred dogs.
1. Petition to Nordic Kennel UnionThis petition was filed by breeders from Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Denmark.
2. Petition to Canadian Kennel Club
This petition mentioned the Canadian Kennel Club for prioritizing show-oriented standards over breed genetic diversity, so its system needs to be reformed.
I have signed both of these petitions. I also recommend that you take an interest in these petitions even if you do not live in those regions. Global genetic diversity of breeds is very important for breed preservation.
How to sign a petition in Change.org
1. Log into Change.org using an email address (with a password or a one-time verification code), Google account, or Facebook account.
2. Click the yellow button labeled "Sign petition". After pressing it, your signature will be included.
3. After you clicked, the system suggests "Can you chip in [money] to get this petition on the agenda?" If you don't want to chip your money to this petition, scroll down and click "Sorry, I can’t do anything right now".
